Recording Cables

Poor quality cables can seriously impact the quality of recordings in your PC home studio and there is nothing more frustrating that noise and hums that interfere with the sound quality.

However, high quality cables can make a big difference in the overall sound quality results you can achieve in your recording studio.

Cable Construction

Good quality cables use high quality materials and are made with a high level of craftsmanship.

Particularly important is good shielding. Most cables use a foil shield, which works very well, but is also prone to internal cracking, which will allow interference. In addition, a higher quality metal in the cable means better transmission.

Microphone Cables

In your home studio, probably the most important cables are those that connect your microphones to your recording device and you should use the best quality cable you can afford.

The output from a microphone is a very low level signal. Using a really high quality cable on your microphone connection will allow you to maintain the integrity of this signal and hence allow recording that captures the live sound. This is particularly important when recording acoustic guitars and vocals.

Monitoring Cables

Using high quality cables between your recording device and your  monitoring system are also worth the investment, as this will allow you to create the best mix.
