Music Keyboards for your Home Studio

There are a wide variety of keyboard musical instruments available for home recording, ranging from simple MIDI controllers to 88 key Digital Pianos, Synthesisers and Digital Workstations.

If you are a professional (or even accomplished amateur), you probably already have a keyboard instrument. This can be readily integrated into your home studio.

However, even if you have limited keyboard skills, a keyboard instrument such as a MIDI controller, can help you record drums, loops and add other cool and interesting sounds to your recording.

MIDI Controllers /Keyboards

Technically, MIDI controllers do not produce sounds, but produce digital data that can be turned into sound. This is usually done either by software on your PC or by an external MIDI keyboard instrument with sound generation capability.

A MIDI controller/keyboard is a useful addition to any PC home studio, as it allows you to create keyboard sounds that synthesise most musical instruments, plus create synthesiser-like sounds, plus create drums and other effects.

However, the quality of sound produced by MIDI controllers is generally not very good and hence, for more realistic sounds, a keyboard instrument with true audio generation capability is preferred.
